O, friend!

Monday, June 04, 2007

O, friend! Nobody veils you, but yourself. In your path there is no thorn or weed, but yourself. You asked: shall I reach the beloved or not? Between you and the beloved there is nobody, but yourself.

This is so true... I am my own worst obstacle... and the interesting thing is that I do mean well.. I'm like one of those well meaning friends who consistantly gives bad advice...

Trying so hard to stay safe and being so intent on not making mistakes - I refrain from life.

we so often are self saboteurs but to finally believe in that inner voice of yours that tells you cant do it is one of life's greatest pleasure, ... somehow you have a stubborn conviction and the greatest pleaure proving that you could do it desoite all the negative voices and skeptics from within and without..

I've finally realized that if we dont get out of the comfort zone we will just rot in the same town or village with never any expectations ever expected..
so we dont face disappointment and rejection....and we will eventually disappear into dust with nothing ever coming out of our lives... only fear, distrust, and hate

I meant to say,
"to finally believe in that inner voice of yours that tells you can do it is one of life's greatest pleasures especially when others say you cannot or you're nuts to have such a vision..."

sometimes I really feel I'm on the verge of doing something really fantastic and then wonder if it's all worth it, when I could be just be taking it easy laying on the beach relaxing in the comfort zone..with no worries!

I love the pic...it reminds me of my backyard :)

I recently watched "Apocalypto"... not the greatest movie ever made that's for sure, but there was one part in it that really spoke to me. The father tells his son that fear is a disease, once it settles in...it begins to kill you. As soon as you notice it, you need to root it out...

Those weren't his exact words, but similar, and then there was a scene where he dies, and shows his son how to do that without fear. I have been mulling the fear thing over ever since.. trying to figure out what part of me is fear and what part is common sense and being practical and careful.

I have a 3 year old granddaughter who is absolutely fearless... she has fallen off stuff so many times that she isn't afraid of falling anymore. It's quite a trip taking her to a park where the is playground equipment because in 2 seconds flat she is on top of the highest thing.

I wonder if I just haven't fallen on my ass enough times recently.

Eleanor Roosevelt said that you should do something that scares you every single day...
