The Eleven Insights

Sunday, December 02, 2007

For the next ten days, we will be learning about the eleven insights as proposed in the Hermetica. The origin of hermetic knowledge traces back to Hermes Trismagistus, about whom not much is known, including the date or place of his birth. Scholars suppose that he lived around 2,000 BC. Many think he was an Egyptian priest, the inventor of both art and science as we know them in the western world. The mystery of Hermes magistus was addressed by both Greek and Roman mystics in various ancient documents. mythology has elevated him to the rank of a god, perhaps the ibis-headed moon god Thoth, the Egyptian god of healing, intelligence, and letters.

These insights are included in Deepack Chopra's book "The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire", which is our current project. Our project still includes doing the sutra practice and the reading for each individual day. I just thought this would make a nice change of pace.

Also, here is a direct link to Hermetic Axioms that I have uploaded to Way Cool Quotes

Somewhere, in one of my notebooks, I have quotes from the Hermetica. When I find that notebook, I'll update these posts to include the quotes.

Love you guys! Have a great day!
