The words of Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len

Friday, February 29, 2008

Ho’oponopono is really very simple. For the ancient Hawaiians, all problems begin as thought. But having a thought is not the problem. So what’s the problem? The problem is that all our thoughts are imbued with painful memories, memories of persons, places, or things.

The intellect working alone can’t solve these problems, because the intellect only manages. Managing things is no way to solve problems. You want to let them go! When you do Ho’oponopono, what happens is that the Divinity takes the painful thought and neutralizes or purifies it.

You don’t purify the person, place, or thing. You neutralize the energy you associate with that person, place, or thing. So the first stage of Ho’oponopono is the purification of that energy.

Now something wonderful happens.

Not only does that energy get neutralized; it also gets released, so there’s a brand new slate. Buddhists call it the Void. The final step is that you allow the Divinity to come in and fill the void with light.

To do Ho’oponopono, you don’t have to know what the problem or error is. All you have to do is notice any problem you are experiencing physically, mentally, emotionally, whatever.

Once you notice, your responsibility is to immediately begin to clean, to say, “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. You repeat, “I’m sorry, please forgive me” until the energy is clean.”

I wonder if this is why babies and toddlers seem to be pure love. They love every one and every thing. Then, they get older - begin to have those painful experiences - the painful memories begin to grow - and after a while you have the angry teenager....

Of course, I could be totally wrong! It's probably not that simple - especially when we bring memories and "stuff" from previous lives, and soak up the memories that live in the walls of our homes, not to mention those ancestral memories carried in our DNA.

I am so sorry. I love you very much. Please forgive me.

I just started to read Eckhart Tolle's book "A New Earth" for Oprah's on-line workshop starting tomorrow. I am finding so many connections to many of the points we discussed in previous Prosperity "projects" and also links to my recent Reiki training. It's a really amazing book so far, unlike anything I've ever read before (especially for an Oprah bookclub selection). I'm beginning to see a pattern of introduction into my life... things that all tie together and connect and build towards a higher awareness. This month's project may not be my favorite, but it is certainly a valid step on the journey. Thanks Shirley. Please forgive me. I love you.
