The Desire You Feel

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

If you fix upon your consciousness the fact that the desire you feel for the possession of riches os one with the desire of Omnipotence for more complete expression, your faith becomes invincible.

Once I saw a little boy sitting at a piano, and vainly trying to bring harmony out of the keys; and I saw that he was grieved and provoked by his inability to play real music. I asked him the cause of his vexation, and he answered, "I can feel the music in me, but I can't make my hands go right." The music in him was the URGE of Original Substance, containing all the possibilities of all life; all that there is of music was seeking expression through the child.

God, the One Substance, is trying to live and do and enjoy things through humanity. He is saying, "I want hands to build wonderful structures, to play divine harmonies, to paint glorious pictures; I want feet to run my errands, eyes to see my beauties, tongues to tell mighty truths and to sing marvelous songs," and so on.

All that there is of possibility is seeking expression through men. God wants those who can play music to have pianos and every other instrument, and to have the means to cultivate their talents to the fullest extent; He wants those who can appreciate beauty to be able to surround themsleves with beautiful things; He wants those who can discern truth to have every opportunity to travel and observe; He wants those who can appreciate dress to be beautifully clothed, and those who can appreciate good food to be luxuriously fed.

He wants all these things because it is Himself that enjoys and appreciates them; it is God who wants to play, and sing, and enjoy beauty, and proclaim truth, and wear fine clothes, and eat good foods.

"It is God that worketh in you to will and to do," said Paul.

The desire you feel for riches is the Infinite, seeking to express Himself in you as He sought to find expression in the little boy at the piano.

So you need not hesitate to ask largely.

Pleasure - this is what I thought about as I transcribed this section. And I wondered how often we deny ourselves what we "want" in order to give ourselves what we "need," and how often we substitute "shoulds" for "coulds". What do you think? Is it comfortable and easy for you to ask for the things that bring you joy? To choose "could" instead of "should?" To pick the fulfilling (creative, exciting, interesting) task over the "responsible" one?

I feel more and more connected to the experience of pleasure in all actions and words, getting closer to passionate living. I love the experience! My belief in being able to attract and have $$$$ seems to be expanding merely from me entertaining the possibility of living in such a manner. Could it be? delibes

delibes - yes!

Personally, I am finding myself much more open to the idea of enjoying life and having what I want. And I find it interesting that so much of the book is spent trying to convince us that we are worthy and deserving.

On Monday I woke up with the idea - the intention - of having a "fun" and "relaxing" day.. so what happened? First thing is I got a bad headache, then I discovered that I did NOT retrieve all my data from my other computer, that over 10 gigabites of files are gone... stuff I worked long and hard on... stuff I WANTED... then it came to my attention that there might be a break in the water line...

I said to myself... OK THEN! Apparently the "Universe" or "God" or "The Powers that Be" have this idea that I think disasters are FUN! That I find headaches relaxing! Obviously, when the shit hits the fan, I LOVE to be upwind!

So.... Clearly, something had to be done. But what? Here's what I came up with - I decided that each week I would spend money on something fun, or take time to do something fun. And that I would begin making this a priority. Fun first - bills later. Fun first - work later. Fun first -- suffering never.....

My little cat is a pleasure whore - she lives for pleasure - I'd like to do a little of that too.
