Three Fundamental Propositions

Monday, February 09, 2009

As our first step (in proving yesterday's point), we must lay down three fundamental propositions.

First, we assert that there is one original formless stuff, or substance, from which all things are made. All the seemingly many elements are but different presentations of one element; all the many forms found in organic and inorganic nature are but different shapes made from the same stuff. And this stuff is thinking stuff; a thought held in it produces the form of the thought. Thought, in thinking substance, produces shapes. Man is a thinking center, capable of original thought; if man can communicate his thought to original thinking substance, he can cause the creation, or formation, of the thing he thinks about. To summarize this:

There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.

A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.

Man can form things in this thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he things about to be created.

It may be asked if I can prove these statements; and without going into details, I answer that I can do so, both by logic and experience.

Reasoning back from the phenomena of form and thought, I come to one original thinking substance; and reasoning forward from this thinking substance, I come to man's power to cause the formation of the thing he things about.

And by experiment, I find the reasoning true; and this is my strongest proof.

If one man who reads this book gets rich by doing what it tells him to do, that is evidence in support of my claim; but if every man who does what it tells him to do gets rich, that is positive proof until some one goes through the process and fails. The theory is true until the process fails; and this process will not fail, for every man who does exactly what this book tells him to do will get rich.

Well?
Are we going to do exactly what he says to do?
What if it turns out to be really hard?
Would we still be willing?

Okay I think that if I really felt for sure!!!! that something was going to work being hard would not be a deterrent. But as Two Feathers knows I have certain mental stumbling blocks with this book. I am trying to release them and be open to mr. wattles suggestions. I have come to realize that one major stumbling block is I don't trust things that are "given" to me, I have to "Pay" for it myself for it to be mine.

I think that "trust" is a good word here and perhaps in Mr. Wattles' day, it would not have been as relevant. As I am reading, I still feel this little nagging in the back of my head that whispers "Doesn't this sound like a late night info-mercial?" And then my openness to his plan is jaded. It's as if I don't TRUST already, and he hasn't even gotten to the good stuff! Of course I am willing, wholeheartedly to listen and try his plan! I'm just bummed that my attitude seems to be getting in the way...negative conditioning from sales people over the course of my life spewing the next "miracle". Isn't that terrible? What if we actually come across valuable knowledge and a true miracle? If we are always skeptical, will we recognize the gift when we receive it? Help! Any ideas?

One of the things I've noticed in going through this book again - slowly - is how much time he spends convincing the reader that (A) It's OK to be rich, and (B) that it CAN be done if only we will just believe it and begin to DO it.

And Karla - I understand that "info-mercial" resistance. If at the end of his pitch, we were going to be asked to invest money - well - that would be a totally different story, and not something we'd even be exploring here.

In times past I have mostly skipped through this part.... and it occurs to me that it might be one of the most important parts! I think that by not really buying into the idea that I DESERVE to be rich - and particularly since I seem to have bought heavily into the idea that what I DESERVE is to be punished - I right away undermine all chance of success.

Believing that I deserve it - believing that unlimited potential - unlimited means, is the TRUTH of my reality - that IS the hard part.

I hope I can do it!

As for the question: What if we actually come across valuable knowledge and a true miracle? If we are always skeptical, will we recognize the gift when we receive it? That is an excellent question - one that I don't know the answer to! How much simpler to just see value in everything - to be willing to see the miracle when it occurs instead of looking for the "trick"!

I have tested this before in some simple ways, saying for instance, "there's a parking spot waiting for me in front of the theater, even though it's jammed packed with cars. And voila! the space became available. I've done this for taxis also, and it's worked so many times!!

Why haven't i done this for a beautiful new car or home? Am I thinking small, or feeling that there's a limit to the size of these 'miracles'? I think that's what I do, I'm thinking small, and considering that there's a difference between asking for a parking space, and a private jet. Don't know why I think small, maybe it seems like i'm trying to move mountains and don't have that much oomph. haha

I ask for a private fleet of jets, and to have a wonderful home in Greece, and a beautiful apartment in New York, and a gorgeous new car to replace the one that's in the shop, on it's last legs!! :)

Where would you like to go? I've got a charter airline coming, and would love to share complimentary trips on them wiht everyone here!!!
