How did we do?

Thursday, March 26, 2009

Our project on The Science of Getting Rich has come to an end. It was the longest project we've ever done, and now it's time to share our experiences and decide if the teachings in this little book actually worked for us or not.

I'd love it if you'd take the time to post your answers to the following questions:

  • Do you think the Science of Getting Rich worked for you?
    If so, in what way?
    If not, why not?

  • During the course of the project, did you reach any of your goals?
  • Did you experience unexpected income or surprising outcomes?
  • Did you gain insight into defeating patterns in your life?
  • Did you find more clarity about how to create a richer life?

  • What did you learn?
  • Any aha! moments that you'd like to share?

  • What was your favorite part of this project?
  • Your most valuable insight?
  • The best thing that happened because of it?
  • What was your least favorite part?
  • Where there things that you disagreed with? or found to be untrue for you?

  • Would you recommend The Science of Getting Rich to others?
  • Would (or do) you recommend The Prosperity Project to others?

Over the next 2 or 3 days, I'll be compiling our answers into a summary of our experiences with this little book (The Science of Getting Rich, by Wallace D Wattles). I'll also be posting a slide show and image archive of all the castle wallpapers that I collected for this project.

This is a good time to make suggestions for upcoming projects. So far, I have the following ideas:

  • Get focused on the positive
  • How to figure out what you really want
  • Self esteem - and how to know you really do deserve to be rich

THis project was marvelous! I would love to have some kind of daily dose of thie work, something to use as a model or form to keep the energy flowing, to keep focused, and to maintain the momentum. That's something different from what we've been doing, and might be something as an added exercise, an ongoing daily reminder. What do you think about that?

Otherwise, I'd like to do the entire course again! It's absolute spot on!

Thank you so so much for your efforts in putting this together, you're truly someone whom I have a great admiration and respect for the commitment you give to all of us.

Thank you again,

Mark

Thanks Mark - and I'll give some thought to your suggestion.

This project worked really well for me on so many different levels. By having to actually transcribe the entire book, I really did read every word and lots of it actually sank in. Also, I agree with Mark, that the extra time we took for this project was really helpful.

My actual results are as follows:

1 - I started this project with a broken hot water heater and no money to fix it with. I now have a working hot water heater and it didn't cost me anything to fix it. It just studdenly started to heat my water again. Like a miracle. My new mantra is: If my hot water heater can fix itself - anything, and I mean anything - is possible.

2 - A speeding ticket that I hadn't paid since October (again no money to pay it with) just disappeared. When I called in to pay it, they couldn't find it. I was instructed to send it in with a "not guilty" plea attached (so that it could go to court and I could pay it) - and that disappeared. Looks like I won't have to pay it at all!! Wow! How often to traffic tickets just disappear? I'm thinking that if my ticket can disappear, anything is possible... absolutely anything!

3 - My property caught on fire twice - big grass fires - which came within feet of my house and it didn't burn down. Out here in the country we have a volunteer fire department - and usually if there's a fire, the house burns to the ground before the first fire truck even gets there. I think it's a miracle that I even have a home!

4 - I have actual cash money in my purse!! Wow!!

What did I learn? I realized that I have even more issues with feeling "deserving" than I had previously imagined, and as I began to work on that, things began to change for me. Also, the importance of really being clear about what you want while at the same time knowing that not only is it possible, it's probable.

Not only that, but I came up with a really clear vision of what I want to "do" in the world, I'm sure that I deserve to make plenty of money in the "doing" of it, and I also know that it can be done by me... how cool is that?

My favorite part was really feeling like I was starting to "get" it. I did enjoy the desktop wallpapers... and the conversations Daniel and I had as we discussed it. I also enjoyed logging on and reading comments left by others. It's really good to do something like this in the company of like minded people... thanks guys! Really, I mean it!

My least favorite part was that it tended to get tedious - all the reading.

Yes - I would, and do, recommend that little book to others. And I also recommend the Prosperity Project too. I think that committing to working on my prosperity has really had a huge impact on my life.

I'm also really looking forward to our next project. It's going to be lively and fun - and will get us all feeling good about our lives and that will help us to bring in more good.

This project really surprised me because Mr. Wattles' style at first was somewhat off-putting. I think it took me awhile to figure out he was writing a century ago! I kind of felt he was coming off as egotistical and info-mercial like. HOWEVER, as the key components started to sink in, I was truly amazed! I liked his unwavering focus! It's alot like "the Secret" and many other books written TODAY. It's eerily like the channeled messages I get from Ole..create, create, create! What's exciting to me is that on so many levels, we are being told that this really, really works! Just think if we could all work towards changing way of thought and did things that "Certain Way"! I think it's the unwavering focus part I personally still need work on, though. I had a great week last week and then meltdown and frustration and doubt yesterday. I like the idea of a new project to keep positive mindsets going!

I particulary liked the part about the politicians being in our midst because it is necessary for them to be, and when those kinds of folks aren't necessary, they will no longer be in place (ok I paraphrased but too lazy to go back and find it). I see alot of people who fret and stress about politics, the state of the economy and the country and the world. Directing all that fretful energy into something more positive or visionary has GOT to make an impact on the overall vibration of humanity. If you can accept that "Ok these leaders are here for while." and let it go rather than rant and rave, it seems like that passion could be applied into making what you WANT in your experience, in your world.

I also found the reminders to do the best at whatever job you are in while keeping your goals in strong sight helpful. This week has been rough at work and I really had to remind myself to be truly grateful for my job (so many people are out of work!) and in being grateful, be PRESENT in all that I do and do it completely and to the best of my ability.

Thank you for all the hard work in transcribing "The Science of Getting Rich", Shirley! Whew! At the bookstore where I do readings, there is a copy of this book on the shelf! How cool is that!

I have been reading the Science of Getting Rich - at least parts of it everyday - for almost a year. I do think that this is the way to prosperity. I love the idea that creativity not cut throat competition is the way to go. While I have not achieved all my goals yet, I do find myself more confident that I am well on my way. I am also much better at visualizing and concentrating on what I will accomplish. Thank you for doing this experiment. I think that if everyone read this book and passed it on, the world would be a much better and kinder place.
