Moonlight.

Douse the lights, douse even the candle
Speak to her gently; she's been shunned
so long, she runs away.
Suggest, don't expect
Invite
Wait

Let being fill up the space
of doing
So that what you're doing
is being.

Let the message emerge
from the sea of understanding
like a mermaid singing her seduction,
Think fishes, flying through dark waters,
Think night, moonlit seas, and
no moonlight at all.

Think water. Think depths, dampness.
Think subtle. Think subtler.
Think feelings.

Your wis-dame, your wisdom,
is an archivist. She knows what happened.
Just ask.

She isn't afraid, she's been here before.
Another kind of clarity, silvery, not stark, emerges.
Your wis-dame is your oldest ally,
your mother-wit.

Without her you are less than half yourself
with her you are whole and ready.
Like a dolphin she is beside you
when you are goalless
and seeking only to satisfy your higher yearning.

Be attracted, addicted to life
and life's deeper demands.
Love, don't curse, the blind alleys
the red lights and lost luggage.

Without guessing there's no game.
Not "no pain no gain"
but "no love no gain"

You mother-wit
your wise dame

The sage speaks in patterns and pictures,
a scatter tongue. Catch as you can
her butterfly dust

But if you treasure her treasure
be loyal,
For eons she has been wooed in the dark
and spurned in the sun.
If she was with you then
She's with you now.

Ask
Ask
and then, of course,
listen.

The Doors Open

Sunday, January 20, 2008

Host unlimited photos at slide.com for FREE!

The doors open
Not just a crack, but fully open and wide
And the wind blows through
Drapes billow out in the fresh breeze

Opening, opening
One door after another, one window after another
The breeze is fresh and new
As it blows through

I feel the cleansing, blowing freshness
I am like one of the billowing curtains, sheer and diaphanous,
Beauty and love flowing and blowing
Clean and pure on the air

I stand now on the open plains
Where the breeze blows across the land
And the whole world is like a grassland unending
As far as the eye can see open, open
Open and unobstructed
All barriers down
All obstacles removed

My translucent hand reaches out and forms life from air
Air like clay that can be molded
Matter formed by my own translucent being
Air full of life and love

Yes, love,
Love is the clay

Love is the artist and the art itself
Love is the clay and the potter
Love is the hand that forms and the form that results
And the freedom that blows is a freedom to create

And here at the heart is my own beating heart
That beats in tune with your own
The coming and going of timeless time
The coming and going of formless form

We ask: Is it now?
Is it now to move, to form, to be in this wondrous opening?

And the answer flies back across the plains, as swift as that breeze,
No, no, swifter
As fast as the blink of an eye, it comes

Yes, yes

The time is now
The energy is here now
The open blowing moving forming of the formless into being
This is now
And the fresh air of being is now

Reach out your hand of love
Grab the freshening air and form it
The world is molded to your own thinking, being, intending hand

A light glows and comes toward you
See it fill the air
The moment is now for the forming
The moment is now for creation
The world is yours to shape and form

You are the light
You are the love
You are the artist, the creator

We are the light, we are the love
We are the creators

Blowing and open and new
I am
We are
Life is

The door is round and open...

Friday, January 11, 2008

The breeze of dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don't go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep
People are going back and forth
across the doors where
the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep.

I Become a Part of It

Sunday, December 02, 2007

This small meditation may help you find a deeper understanding of and better experience with the Principle and Sutra Exercise for today (Sunday).

The mountains, I become part of it.
The herbs, the fir tree, I become part of it.
The morning mists, the clouds, the gathering waters,
I become part of it.
The wilderness, the dew drops, the pollen...
I become part of it.

Love

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

Today, (Wednesday) we are working with the Principle and Sutra Exercise for mastering our inner dialogue.

You will not exhaust the love in the universe
if you were to absorb it from now until the end of time.

Love is all that exists.

Love is the universal communication.
It is the energy that has created the universe and is keeping it going.
God is love.
All matter is formed by love.
There is an organic love that speaks to everyone if they could but hear.
A leaf holds together for love.

Love can turn the world around and it does.
What did you think was spinning your planet if it wasn't love
and what do you think the fires of your sun consist of
and the cells of your body
and the stars in your sky
and the consciousness in your heart?
It is all love.

There is nothing but love.
Don't let the masks and postures fool you.
Love is the glue that holds the Universe together.

The greatest need in a soul is to achieve that loving of self which will bring about the unity wherein the judgements that have caused such pain are eliminated.

True self-love is not ego.
True love is great humility.
Love and compassion for others cannot exist until there is a goodly supply for self.
How can you feel the love of God if you do not love yourself?
Are they not one and the same thing?

Until you can accept yourself, you lock the doorway to the expansion of all that you yearn for.
This expansion comes through your heart.
Be kind to yourselves.

The Golden God

Friday, June 15, 2007

The Golden God, the Self, the immortal Swan
leaves the small nest of the body, goes where He wants.

He moves through the realm of dreams; makes numberless forms;
delights in sex; eats, drinks, laughs with His friends;
frightens Himself with scenes of heart-chilling terror.

But He is not attached to anything that He sees;
and after He has wandered in the realms of dream and awakeness,
has tasted pleasures and experienced good and evil,
He returns to the blissful state from which He began.

As a fish swims forward to one riverbank then the other,
Self alternates between awakeness and dreaming.

As an eagle, weary from long flight, folds its wings,
gliding down to its nest, Self hurries to the realm
of dreamless sleep, free of desires, fear, pain.

As a man in sexual union with his beloved
is unaware of anything outside or inside,
so a man in union with Self knows nothing, wants nothing,
has found his heart's fulfillment and is free of sorrow.

Father disappears, mother disappears, murderer,
rich man, beggar disappear, world disappears,
good and evil disappear; he has passed beyond sorrow.

~The Upanishads

Unnameable God

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Unnameable God, you are fathomless;
I praise you with endless awe.

You are wrapped in light like a cloak;
you stretch out the sky like a curtain.

You make the clouds your chariot;
you walk on the wings of the wind.

You use the winds as your messengers,
thunder and lightening as your servants.

You look at the earth - it trembles;
you touch the hills and they smoke.

You laid the earth's foundations
so that they would never be destroyed.

You covered the land with ocean;
the waters rose over the mountains.

They fled at the sound of your voice;
you thundered and they ran away.

They rushed down into the valleys,
to the place you appointed for them.

You bounded them, so that they would never
return to inundate the earth.

You send streams into the valleys,
and they flow out among the hills.

All the animals drink from them;
the wild asses quench their thirst.

Beside them the birds of the sky dwell,
singing among the branches.

You water the hills from the sky;
by your care the whole earth is nourished.

You make grass grow for the cattle
and grains for the service of mankind,
to bring forth food from the earth
and bread that strengthens the body,
oil that makes the face shine,
and wine that gladdens the heart.

You plant the trees that grow tall
pines, and cedars of Lebanon,
where many birds build their nests,
and the stork on the topmost branches.

The mountains shelter the wild goats;
the cliffs are a shelter for the rock squirrels.

You created the moon to count months;
the sun knows when it must set.

You make darkness, it is night,
the forest animals emerge.

The young lions roar for their prey,
seeking their food from God.

The sun rises, they withdraw,
and lie down together in their dens.

Humans go out to their labor
and work until it is evening.

How manifold are your creatures, Lord!
With wisdom you made them all;
the whole earth is filled with your riches.

Here is the sea in its vastness,
where innumerable creatures live,
fish both tiny and huge.

Here sharks swim, and the whale
that you created to play with.

All these depend on you
to give them food in due time.

You open your hands - they gather it:
you give it - they are filled with gladness.

You hide your face - they are stricken;
you take back their breath - they die
and return their bodies to the dust.

You send forth your breath - they are born,
and with them you replenish the earth.

Your grandeur will last forever;
eternally you rejoice in your works.

I will sing to you every moment;
I will praise you with every breath.

May all selfishness disappear from me,
and may you always shine from my heart.

Psalm 104

Between

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Between the conscious and the unconscious,
the mind has put up a swing:
all earth creatures, even the supernovas,
sway between these two trees,
and it never winds down.

Angels, animals, humans, insects by the million,
also the wheeling sun and moon;
ages go by, and it goes on.

Everything is swinging: heaven, earth, water, fire,
and the secret one slowly growing a body.

Kabir saw that for fifteen seconds,
and it made him a servant for life.

~Kabir

I go amoung the trees

Sunday, June 10, 2007

I go amoung the trees and sit still.
All my stirring becomes quiet
Around me like circles on water.
My tasks lie in their places
Where I left them, asleep like cattle.
Then what I am afraid of comes.
I live for a while in its sight.
And the fear of it leaves me.
It sings, and I hear its song.

~Wendell Berry

O love

Wednesday, May 30, 2007

O love, O pure deep love, be here, be now.
Be all; worlds dissolve into your stainless endless radiance,
Frail living leaves burn with you brighter than cold stars;
Make me your servant, your breath, your core.

~Rumi

With your feet I walk

Tuesday, May 29, 2007

With your feet I walk
I walk with your limbs
I carry forth your body
For me your mind thinks
Your voice speaks for me
Beauty is before me
And beauty is behind me
Above and below me hovers the beautiful
I am surrounded by it
I am immersed in it
In my youth I am aware of it
And in old age I shall walk quietly
The beautiful trail.

A billion stars

Sunday, May 27, 2007

A billion stars go spinning through the night,
blazing high above your head.
But in you is the presence that
will be, when all the stars are dead.

~Rainer Maria Rilke

All that matters

Friday, May 25, 2007

All that matters is to be at one with the living God
to be a creature in the house of the God of Life.

Like a cat asleep on a chair
at peace, in peace
and at one with the master of the house, with the mistress,
at home, at home in the house of the living,
sleeping on the hearth, and yawning before the fire.

Sleeping on the hearth of the living world
yawning at home before the fire of life
feeling the presence of the living God
like a great reassurance
a deep calm in the heart
a presence
as of the master sitting at the board
in his own and greater being,
in the house of life.

Holy Spirit

Thursday, May 24, 2007

Holy Spirit,
giving life to all life,
moving all creatures,
root of all things,
washing them clean,
wiping out their mistakes,
healing their wounds,
you are our true life,
luminous, wonderful,
awakening the heart
from its ancient sleep.

~Hildegard of Bingen

Are you looking for me?

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

Are you looking for me? I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
You will not find me in stupas, not in Indian shrine rooms, nor in synagogues, nor in cathedrals:
not in masses, nor kirtans, not in legs winding around your own neck, nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me, you will see me instantly-
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.

Kabir says: Student, tell me what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath.

Self is

Monday, May 21, 2007

Self is everywhere,
shining forth from all beings,
vaster than the vast,
subtler than the most subtle,
unreachable,
yet nearer than breath,
than heartbeat.
Eye cannot see it,
ear cannot hear it nor tongue
utter it;
only in deep absorption can the mind,
grown pure and silent,
merge with the formless truth.
As son as you find it,
you are free;
you have found yourself;
you have solved the great riddle;
your heart forever is at peace.
Whole,
you enter the Whole.
Your personal self
returns to its radiant, intimate, deathless source.

Mandaka Upanishad

The same stream

Saturday, May 19, 2007

The same stream of life
that runs through my veins
runs through the world
and dances in rhythmic measure.

It is the same life that shoots in joy
through the dust of the earth
into numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves
of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked
in the ocean cradle of birth and death
in ebb and flow.

My limbs are made glorious
by the touch of this world of life.

And my pride is from
the life throb of ages dancing
in my blood at this moment.

A small poem

Victory to Ganesha,
who when dancing
makes a shower of stars
fall like a rain of flowers from the sky
by the movement of his trunk.
