Getting it right

Friday, October 20, 2006

Hi everyone,

So I paid no attention to the time zones when I set up the blog. And since I posted in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday, the post showed a "time stamp" of Wednesday.. Hence the confusion. So I figured out how to fix it, and the time showing with each post will from now on be correct. I am really sorry for that, and I can see how it could really throw you off, especially if you had missed a day or two.

Cindy posted some great comments and brought up something for discussion

....So sorry to do this, but this project has been moved and can be found in its new home Praying For Prosperity at the new and improved Prosperity Project hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com. And can be found in its entirety here: Getting It Right

Anything worth doing is worth doing slow.

I am inclined to agree with Garvald about praying for intrinsic rewards rather than monetary gain.. and I am inclined to agree with Cindy that prosperity can and does include a lot more than money.

On the other hand, I do need actual money - dollars and cents -to pay my electric bill and my house payment and my water bill and etc etc ad infinitum.

I have often had things come to me without the use of "money" that were and still are invaluable and precious.

And it reminds me of when we used to joke that we were "dirt" rich and "money" poor.. or "dog" rich and "dollar" poor.. Right now I would say I am "dirty dishes" rich and .. "vacation at the beach" poor.

I really enjoy that we are discussing all of this and really examining the project this way. For one thing it helps me get my mind off of my problems and situations.

As for Cindy's question as to what we can include as prosperity.. I would think we could include anything that we personally see as abundance .. prosperity .. enrichment.. etc..

However to judge the success of the experiment I think we need to hold to the original goals we set. Maybe next time we could set intentions that are a little broader in scope.

So there's my two cents.

just in case anyone missed my post from day five....garvald is actually John Turbayne who is a man that has been stalking me for almost six years. maybe we could all pray right now that he will just leave me the hell alone? he is not deterred by police reports, has actually shown up at my house, and keeps sending creepy weird postcards. i have repeatedly asked, told, and threatened him to leave me alone and he will not. now i feel like i shouldn't participate in this because yet again, here he is. what should i do guys?

So day six and my prayer person this morning was really good. Probably the best one so far. Unfortunately for me I still really felt no connection to the prayer. So much of it was words I had heard in the other five days of prayers. It was suggested, by a friend, that maybe I was feeling disappointed because I believe in the power of prayer and yet nothing has happened. To be honest I am not sure I do believe in the power of prayer. I want to believe it. I want to believe that on any level our words, our intent can have an affect on our lives even though I have not experienced this in my own life. Lately I have been thinking a lot about the how my life has changed over time but not necessarily for the better, different but not better. Which is something that I really can not understand. Since I certainly haven't focused on it being the same but different, I feel I have definetely put time into envisioning it to be better. Yet there it is - it's not.
I also believe that prosperity is more than just dollars and cents. Alot of things can add riches to our lives but nothing like good old dollars and cents. The fact of the matter is without them life generally sucks. Unless you are in some kind of community where all of your material/physical needs are met and you have renounced all superfluous material goods, you need money. Money adds a richness to life that can not be denied. I am not saying you need to be a billionaire to be happy. But you need more than just meeting the day to day expenses of keeping life in your body. Which brings me back to wanting to believe in prayer. I think it is a basic human need to believe there is a force outside of our selves that is hopefully working for our good. There to protect us, to bring something more into our lives than this day to day bullshit that we all put up with. I think that is why the Christian idea of a "Father" God resonates so well with so many people. This imagery of the benevolant "Father" giving to his children all they need and more. But for me this is also one of the frustrations of it. If it is our "Father's" pleasure to give where the heck is it?

Shirley, isn't there some way you can block the stalker from posting or maybe even reading our stuff?

Michelle, I hope you are documenting all that he does. Have you gotten a restraining order? Do you live in a big city or small town? (You can get my personal e-mail address from Shirley and e-mail me and we can talk about this privately or I can give you my phone number via private e-mail and we can talk on the phone about this. I do have a little bit of insight and expertise in that area. I wlll certainly also pray for your peace of mind and protection.

Shirley, I know exactly what you mean about how anxious we can get, especially when "needlessly waiting". I think for a while I was almost becoming a road rager, then I discovered that if I played my favorite CDs really loud in the car instead of listening to the radio, that seemed to help calm me.

I agree that for the purposes of this experiment, monetary gain is probably the most significant thing to note. I, too, usually have "too much month at the end of the money".

I know that everybody's sense of God and prayer is different. And I would like to thank Shirley for TONS of insight she has given me over the years!! I will share with you one of the most significant ones she explained to me. We were talking about vegetarians, and since we are both huge animal lovers, how can we eat them? Shirley explained to me that she felt certain animals come to this earth specifically FOR providing food for people, and that these animals don't mind. At first it was hard to wrap my mind around that one, but as I got more into animal communication, I realized that this rings true, since animals are not afraid of death - they know it's just a "transition" and they will be back in some form or the other over and over.

One book that fellow bloggers might be interested in is called "Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting" by Lynn Grabhorn. Her philsophy is that the entire universe is based on vibrations. It is sort of like what one of the other members of our group said about basically there being good and evil, only these vibrations are more literal forms of that - slow, low vibrations draw other slow, low vibrations, including sickness, car accidents, etc. The higher the vibration the better. This also goes along with what many of the psychics, including John Edward and Sylvia Brown say about how most people are unable to hear the spirit voices of people who have passed on is because their vibration level is so high.

Okay, I feel like I'm totally overdoing it with these blogs - I hope I am not causing anyone to roll their eyes! I certainly don't want to come across as a "know it all" because BELIEVE ME, I'm not!!!

Well I don't know if we can block him but Michelle if you quite this project he will win. I don't have anything to say about the money front, but it's 2pm so who knows what the rest of the day will bring.

There isn't a way to block John Turbayne from our blog that won't also block other interested blog surfers. But his posts can be deleted and I will be happy to do that. I could enable "comment moderation" for the blog, but that would mean that none of our posts could be published until I had a chance to look at them and approve them. And I don't especially want to do that, as it will slow every thing down.

Oh Michelle, I am sorry that I agreed with that Garvald person. Really really sorry. I guess I might have to put that into Saskia's blog.. I agreed with a stalker and that's why my life sucks.. LOL

I will send you Cindy's email and you guys can talk.

And Cindy.. I love your comments. One of the things I like about the whole "blog" concept is that we can all put our two cents in.. and then comment on everyone elses observations. So don't be afraid of "over doing" it. I haven't rolled my eyes yet.

I removed the Garvald comment, and I also removed a post by Daniel that was the carbon copy of his other post. We love you Daniel - so I hope you don't mind.

i love you shirley! you are such a good best friend. you don't have to be sorry about agreeing with him. what he said is true. it's not very difficult to pray for the greater good....and obviously praying for the things that are personal to us on a non monetary level cannot hurt our overall well being.
but after all, aren't we experimenting with praying for prosperity? isn't that the whole point of this?
i will not quit posting and participating just because of some horrible creep. you're right too, saskia...he would win that way. i know we can't keep him from posting or reading this. just wanted everyone to know he is a mentally unstable, weirdo pervert. And he is responsible for educating special needs children! how scary. just another reason for me to be sure of my decision to homeschool....it is amazing to me who can gain access to children.
i emailed my prayer request today, and decided what to do with the dollar bill.
Since it belongs to my boyfriend really, i am going to do a little Gypsy technique that goes a little like this. I will say the affirmation, sprinkle the bill with prosperity oil and incense, put it in an envelope and put it under the doormat. This way, he will walk over it several times a day, unknowingly. In this way, it should draw prosperity to him. Then, when we get an opportunity to do some other kinds of things like the spindle idea, it will have really good energy and will make a good bill to be at the base of the spindle under any other bills.
I like reading all of everyone's comments, especially the long ones. I love to hear what everyone has to say about this experience....the only time i rolled my eyes, seriously, was at the garvald comment that is now removed.
as far as my own prosperity is concerned....i paid bills today, so that was good because they got paid. no money from extra sources today, just my sweet boyfriend, who unbeknownst to him, doesn't count in this! But he paid the bills. I feel very blessed to have him. maybe he will benefit from his lucky dollar!
