Did you ever notice how the things we are the most frightened of almost always turn out to be impermanent constructions of our own imagination? Like this sand sculpture?
It looks so real.. and then time goes by, the tide comes in, maybe it rains, and our carefully created masterpiece of disaster disintegrates into oblivion .. and we look around and everything really is OK.
Of course, sometimes there is a typhoon, or a tsunami, or a volcanic eruption, or an earthquake. But in my experience, those types of things almost inevitably happen on a really nice day with no warning, and no worrying at all. Suddenly KABAM!!! disaster strikes out of no where....
So sorry to do this, but this project has been moved and can be found in its new home Praying For Prosperity at the new and improved Prosperity Project hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com. And can be found in its entirety here: Something Scary
Bright blessings. I hope to see you there!

Hidy ho all. Happy Halloween! I had my dear friend Shirley over this morning for halloween brunch. We decided to get washed in the blood of the lamb, and called a total of about 6 prayer lines. We tried to get one for rattlesnake wrangling prayer lines, but alas, no luck. We did find a few though, most with either a message machine or a mild, sweet prayer. until my turn, when I got as much blood, lamb, and jesus anyone could ever ask for on a perfect halloween morning. Ahhh....well, so here you go. if you too, would like to pray with a scary religious fanatic, then call.... 1-800-947-LIFE. Really, it was quite good, being that i was raised a baptist and could really understand what he was saying. i think he did, get that i was COUGHING.....not laughing, i would never do that (more than once) and still be breathing...but in the end, it was good because Shirley left the room so she wouldn't make me laugh even more.
Happy Halloween all...gotta go make a skeletubby outfit!
Ok.. so..
I wasn't feeling terribly brave this morning, and it occured to me that scary things are more fun if you can get someone to do them with you. So I invited myself over to Michelle's for brunch and talked her into calling the prayer lines with me.
No success getting a live person at Guideposts. So I left a message for me and Saskia.. what a sigh of relief that was.
Then I tried the Edgar Cayce place. It was really really scary because I got the impression that they only wanted SERIOUS prayer requests, like for health and stuff, and they wanted a reciprocal commiment as well.. But I did make the call and got a long recorded message that I had to listen to twice before I even understood what the heck they meant. And then I tried to do what they said, but somehow didn't get the instructions right. so I decided that their prayer line was not for morons and therefore not for me at that moment.
I then made the call to the 3rd prayer line on todays post. It was really really sweet. The person who prayed for me, prayed from his heart, I felt very good about it actually. He prayed for my guidance, and that I would be open to God's plan, and said a lot about how God is our father who loves us.. and it was just sweet. I would call there again if I knew I would get him.
So, breathing a sigh of relief that I had held up my end of the bargain, I handed the phone over to Michelle and her phone call just made my day. I was trying really hard to be good, but I could tell from the look on her face that we had succeeded in finding a true prayer warrior.. someone washed in the blood.. I laughed so hard. It felt so good. I almost feel like I have been to church!
I lost my checkbook and cash. I thought that I left them in my car. I pray that no one stole them and I just missplaced them. I am very absent minded! Now my biggest worry is that that someone is writing a lot of checks. I can handle losing the cash.
Dear anonymous,
I am sorry that happened to you. And I will pray for you and send you some positive thoughts. The last time I lost my check book I found it in my car under the seat, so I hope this turns out to be something like that and that you will find it soon. Also you might try calling Silent Unity, or the Science of Mind. People do call for prayers for stuff like losing check books, and often the prayers get answered. If you scroll back thru the previous weeks posts, I think you will find the phone numbers, or you could go online and put in silentunity.org and scienceofmind.org and get their websites.
good luck
I haven't had a chance to visit you in a couple of days. My 21-year-old daughter, Shari, has been really sick and I am taking her tomorrow (Thursday 11/2 - I'm writing this on Wednesday morning) - to get her gallbladder out. Hopefully this will alleviate a lot of pain and sickness she has been having. So for all you pray-ers out there, if you could include her in your prayers for healing and protection, that would be great. Don't cover her in the blood of the lamb, though, she wouldn't like that, LOL!
I hope anonymous found their checkbook. I'm praying for it to just pop up in the weirdest place. I have lost many things and prayed and then the thing magically appeared in a very obvious place where I know it wasn't there before. A few years ago my daughter lost her class ring on a school bus going on a field trip. She KNOWS she had it on the school bus and thinks she since it was cold out it slipped off her finger in the bus or at the field trip. She cried and cried and me and my friends at Unity prayed for her and a few days later, after she played piano she pulled the wooden cover down to cover the keyboard and guess what came out with the keyboard cover? You guessed it - her class ring! So miracles do happen with lost objects!
I'm not quite ready to make any scary calls yet - maybe never! You are brave people!
I found my checkbook camouflaged in a green duffle bag and the cash was in my back pocket! I found it about a half hour later after I wrote the comment.Isn't that amazing?
I had looked everywhere else. This happens a lot to folks like myself with ADD! ;)
