potential

How do you set the tone for your day? What thought is foremost in your mind when you first wake up? What would your day be like if you were to actively work to create a new thought, if you were to change your thinking? Would it change your life?

Think about this morning, when your alarm went off, or (if you don't use an alarm) when you first opened your eyes, what was that first thought?

If you like what you just said... that's great! If what you just said shows you something uncomfortable about your life that you'd like to change, now is the time to take steps to make some changes. Start first with that thought, how can you rewrite the sentence in a more positive way, and still make it sound and feel true for you?

Remember, if you rewrite the sentence to be how you "wish" it was, or how you think it "should" be, or even how you "want" it to be, it will not have nearly the effectiveness as it will if you can rewrite it in such a way that you KNOW the truth of it.

Once you decide on an alternative, post it in big letters where you will see it when you first wake up. Once that thought is firmly fixed in your mind, it will begin to operate automatically in your life, filtering out experiences and ideas that do NOT reflect that positive statement.

As always, we all love to see what other people write - so log on and share. Something you say might be really helpful to those of us who read it.

First, I want to comment on how much I love the picture of the guy drawing a flying bird while looking at an egg. What great symbolism!!!

Luckily, I don't usually have to set an alarm clock to get me up in the morning and I am very grateful for that!!

When I first open my eyes in the morning, I always feel grateful! I am going to add to that the intention that each day I will think positively, learn something and feel love!

I tend to wake up with the following:

OMG Now what???!!

And then I calm down a little bit and try to remember ok... what day is it? what time do my feet actually have to hit the floor? and do they have to hit the floor running? or is shuffling and hobbling going to be ok? and what do I have to do right away first thing? and is there a Java Monster in the fridge? or not? and will I have to actually make coffee as opposed to opening a can of Loca Mocha? did I remember to put the clothes in the dryer? or am I going to work wearing something wet? and can't I just get a little more sleep? please?

I'd like to wake up feeling pleasantly relaxed about my day... and I don't think that's going to happen.

I'd also like to wake up to a strong hot cup of coffee brought to me in bed by the pretty dang cute (and talented) cabana boy... fat chance of that ever happening.

I loved it when my dog would wake me up by standing right over my face and saying "wuff."

Ok... so on to something possible and real... hmm... well... I think I'm going to try to start it off by saying, "Shirley - I love you. And I'm sorry." (ho-oponopono)

Me too Cindy! 4:30 or 5:00 and and POOF, I'm awake. No alarm! Unfortunately, even if I go out and whoop it up the night before I still wake up that early, so not as much whooping for me these days.

My days starts with anticipation. It's like someone has left this beautiful package on my dining room table and I anxiously hop out of bed, rushing out to see what gifts will be given to me each morning. What will I do? Who will I see? Where will I go? Who will I talk to, hug, laugh with? Wow, how blessed am I to have these presents given to me each and every day when I wake up? No wonder I don't need an alarm! It's like Christmas! Perhaps it's part of having a nosy and curious nature! Investigating each new day!
