The door is round and open...

Friday, January 11, 2008

The breeze of dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don't go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep
People are going back and forth
across the doors where
the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep.

Yeah easy for Rumi to say he hasn't been up all night dealing with what I have had to deal with. But I love Rumi, I love the poem and I love the door. It reminds me of a Japanese Moon Gate which I am definitely going to have in my garden. It is going to lead to an amazing meditation garden. Soft, lush and green. With the gardens interest being in the different shades of green, leaf shape etc.. With interesting things to peek out at you from the green. Some fun, some surprising. Oh the wonders of what lay beyond that gate. Can you see the elves and the fairies? I have left treats for them and they have done their dance of beauty and magic for me on the lawn. I can hear them whispering and laughing as the leaves rustle with their movement. I feel the peace, the love and the magick and know that any sleep in this garden, beyond this gate, will be filled with magick and wonder. Thank you fairies. Thank you elves. Thank you for sharing with me. I hope my tears of joy shine forth on the garden like dew on a sparkling spring day.

I love this picture... I used the quote as my morning meditation while looking out that round door... breathing in the fresh smell of new air and new adventures coming my way.

It's interesting because I found comfort and peace INSIDE the building as well. Like a timeless, cozy, well-worn place of worship. I think the shape of the room reminds me of a sanctuary. I love the round door, like a portal of sorts. The first thing that popped into my mind when I opened this was The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe book...a portal we can move through freely with adventures and peace on both sides if we really look for it.

I was wondering if you could share the name of and artist who created the painting of the door?

Thank you!

Hi firefly. I'm sorry but I do not know the artist or the name of the painting in question. What I DO know is that it is fantasy art based on Lord of the Rings and/or The Hobbit. The artist is well known, and if you were to search art sites dedicated to LOTR (Lord of the Rings), you'll probably find this painting and a bunch more by that same artist.
