Something Good About You
Monday, April 20, 2009I think it's helpful to take the attention off of ourselves and focus in a good way on the people around us. Here's a great little exercise called "I Know Something Good About You." This is something I love to do at birthday parties. We put the birthday person into the center of a circle, and everyone takes turns saying what they know to be good about her (or him).
So, how about it. Think of someone in your life who presents a challenge. It can be a family member, friend, or coworker. Doesn't matter who. Make a list of all the good things you know about them. Once your list is made, think of ways to tell that person at least one of those things every time you see them. Alternatively, you can enclose your list in a card and give it to them.
