Begging For Mercy - Getting Started

Thursday, January 13, 2011

That was then:
Getting Started - This link will take you to the first venture into goal setting. As you can see, we had lots of comments! What a nifty little trip into the past... all those goals, hopes and dreams... How fun was that?

This is now:
Setting clear and specific goals will enable you to determine just how successful begging is for you. So, if you're up for it, log on, post your name, your goals, and share your personal begging experiences. If you decide to call for prayer, we'd be interested in that too.

Logging on and sharing your goals and experiences is easy, just click on the "comment" link at the bottom of this post. The idea is to make a commitment to the project by participating every day for 30 days, and then posting your experiences (good and bad). At the end of the 30 days - we will evaluate our progress and determine if begging for prosperity does indeed work.. and if so are the results consistent.

We look forward to sharing the journey with you.

Interestingly, my money situation hasn't changed since from our first project - here's what I wanted then:

1 - $275 in my savings account
2 - more than enough money in my checking account to cover all of my upcoming bills and expenses
3 - one item on my wish list purchased.

The wish list, however, has changed dramatically. What I wanted then was a new printer, a CD player for my car, a lap top computer, and some art supplies.

I do now have a printer, a CD player in my van, a lap top computer, and art supplies. So that's interesting.... Looks like I can manifest "stuff" more easily than I can manifest money.

Today my wish list is way smaller - there are some CD's I'd like to buy, and some DVD's.

What I want most is to have spending money - extra money for little luxuries and fun. I'd really like to get out of survival mode!

As for the start point - how scary that it's so similar!!

This is where I was back in 2006 -
1 - a checking account balance of zero dollars
2 - bills this month exceed my income by more than $200
3 - my car needs new tires and is overdue on the periodic upkeep and maintenance
4 - my printer is broken
5 - last years property taxes not paid
6 - central air unit badly needs to be cleaned and serviced
7 - TV, VCR, and CD players are ALL on the fritz.

This time around? I have more than a zero balance because I haven't paid any bills yet - but if I did I'd be somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 in the hole.

My bills consistently exceed my income by $200 or more, my van needs new tires, is due for periodic maintenance, the A/C is broken, and the check engine light has been on for months.

As for the property taxes, I can pay them now if I don't pay my bills, or I can pay my bills and let the property taxes slide for another year - not quite sure what to do with that one.

I do have a TV, VCR, and DVD player thanks to a good friend who got me an awesome Christmas present last year - so that's all good. My central air unit bit the dust this summer, but I managed just fine with window units. My central heat bit the dust early this winter but people who love me gave me money to fix it and so I do have heat - so that's all good.

I think my biggest thing is getting the siding on my house replaced - it melted off over a year ago (big grass fire), the Bank of America debt ($20,000) which I cannot pay - and which they are demanding be paid in full by Feb 2012, and worries about my van and whether or not I can keep it in good repair and running...

Like I said - survival issues!

So... I'm finding this really interesting... exploring the past and visioning for the future.
